Fellowship With Each Other

Have you ever been surrounded by people, but still somehow felt totally alone? The presence of others doesn’t always mean the absence of loneliness. But for believers in Jesus, that’s where fellowship steps in! When we truly spend time building relationships with others, we’re living in true fellowship. And as this verse shows us, it comes as the result of living in the light with God. It doesn’t matter if you’re quiet or loud, shy or outgoing, love big groups or small groups, you can find fellowship and unity with others when you’re connected by the love of God. This week, pray that God would give you opportunities to get to know and connect with others who believe in Him.

Even though we know God’s forgiveness is ours to receive, it’s sometimes not easy to offer that same forgiveness to one another. The pain and hurt we feel when wronged by someone else makes forgiveness the farthest thing from our minds! In those moments, remember that forgiveness is ours to offer to others just as freely as God offers it to us. And not only will it help the other person, but it will set you free as well. Is there a person in your life that you are struggling to forgive? Pray that God would fill your heart with forgiveness toward them.

Think of times in your life when you had the most fun. It’s probably safe to say you weren’t alone. While some places might be more fun with less people (like the long lines at amusement park), most things in life are just better when you’re sharing them with others. And as the writer reminds us in this verse, it’s both good and pleasant when all of God’s people enjoy life together. This week, take time to make a list of the people that make your life more fun when you’re with them. Shoot them a text or write them a note to thank them for making your life better because they’re a part of it.

Live in Harmony With Each Other

Can you imagine listening to a song that only used one note? Just the same sound over and over and over again. That would be terrible, right? Music sounds better when it’s played as combination of different notes that all fit together to make one beautiful sound. That’s called harmony, and it’s something we can find in our own lives, as well. Harmony isn’t about everyone looking or acting the same. It’s actually about different parts of the body of Christ coming together to make something greater. The Bible calls us to live in harmony with each other, and that means working together to make something great in spite of our differences. Think about how you respond to people who are different from you. How can you begin to embrace their differences and live in harmony with them?
